| Doctorate of Church Music - Courses |
(4 Credits per module --2 modules --9 weeks each) Classroom and lab required. This develops, to a greater level, the qualities and essentials necessary to teach congregations what praise and worship really are. The student will be preparing lessons that can be taught in the areas of what is worship, the dynamic lifestyle of praise, and how praise and worship prepare the way for the anointing of the Pastor to flow. It surveys the reality of the role of the musician/servant. * Pedagogy- The skill of Developing other Musicians (8 Credits per module --2 --9 weeks each) In this course the student will be preparing lessons that will be taught to other musicians. It is necessary that every good musician also learns to be an excellent teacher. Based on the principle that we are not an island unto ourselves, but every good musicians must learn to have a heart to develop others. This course is a lab course with hands-on training necessary for building a church music program and assisting the Pastor, *Doctorate Church Music Practicum (24 Credits) This practical affords much opportunity for assisting the staff in teaching and preparing lessons. It encompasses on the job training. Dissertation / or Project (32 Credits) a. Suggested Dissertation Topics b. Tabernacle of David Restored c. Role of the Church Musician in Ministry d. Psalms-- The Study of the First Hymn and its Relevance Today. e. Music in Old Testament Worship f. Progression of Church Music from Acts through the Present g. Music from 1950 to the Present with Emphasis on the evolution of it. h. Emergence of the Praise and Worship (New Styles of Praise and Worship) Composition Project
Total Credits: 80 Note: The majority of the credits for the Doctorate of Church Music can be done on a supervised independent study program with the exception of the lab work required. See Department Head. Appointments for all independent study projects must be on-site at the Main Campus in Titusville, Florida. Subsequent appointments will be set at that time. Time necessary for initial planning varies from one day to one week. A non-refundable registration fee of $30.00 is required before initial meeting is set. |
